SHAWNEE, Kan. (KCTV) – Old Shawnee Days has kicked off summer fun in the KC metro as a weekend full of local music and entertainment begins.

The City of Shawnee says that on Thursday, June 6, the community kicked off summer fun with Old Shawnee Days, a free weekend-long event that offers an array of entertainment.

City officials noted that musical guests will feature both nationally known recording artists and local bands. Entertainment will be available for both adults and children with crafts and vendors, a carnival, parade, games, contests and more.

The City also indicated that the event’s annual Becky Nicks’ Junior Pioneer Scholarship was awarded to Christy Atkinson, a 2024 Mill Valley High School graduate. She is set to attend Pittsburg State University in the fall and plans to major in accounting.

Old Shawnee Days can be found at Shawnee Town 1929 Museum, 11501 W. 57th St.
