The Olpe Fitness park project is closer to its Phase 1 goal — and initial construction — after several significant recent donations.
Organizers have announced $250,000 from the WS and EC Jones Testamentary Trust, along with $50,000 from the Loretto Langley Charitable Trust and $30,000 from the Clint Bowyer 79 Fund. Spokesman Tyler Schmidt says it’s good to see the park’s goals get recognized in such a fashion.
The Fitness Park has a lot of components and three different phases planned. Eventually, the park will include:
*Splash pad
*Walking path around Jones Park with fitness stations
*Basketball court
*Softball field fencing
*Conversion of the football practice field into the main football stadium and eight-lane track with full amenities
*Field house with community center, community weight room and early childcare center
*Reversed layout for the baseball field
The recently-announced donations put the the goal at over $2.1 million total, with $1.9 million counting towards the Phase 1 goal of $2.5 million by year’s end.
