Brannen owns and operates Benson Bounty LLC, an urban farm in central Omaha, with his wife Michelle. He is involved in the Benson community, and is a lifelong Omaha resident, according to a release.

“I have been humbled by the encouragement from neighbors and community members who believe we need new leadership that is rooted in the community, responsive to their needs and committed to the job,” said Brannen.

Festersen has been on the council since 2009. If re-elected, he will become the longest-serving city council member in Omaha’s history.

The 2025 election season is starting to ramp up, with the Douglas County Election Commissioner saying that there is “a good field of candidates for City Council and for mayor.”

Omaha City Councilman Brinker Harding is set to officially launch his re-election bid on Monday.

Danny Begley has also announced that he is seeking re-election.
