On the Red Carpet, Kaia Gerber Is a Master of Fashion Flexes

We’ve become accustomed to seeing Kaia Gerber strutting down the runway, in the glossy pages of magazines, and in larger-than-life ad campaigns. But lately, she’s become an ever-growing presence on red carpets, thanks in part to her blooming acting career.

In the past, Gerber has worked with stylists who have helped her cement herself as a red carpet star. It-girl architect Danielle Goldberg dressed her in a sleek Khaite turtleneck dress for the 2023 Time100 Gala and a bright blue draped Alaïa dress for the premiere of Palm Royale. Molly Dickson, meanwhile, fashioned Gerber in the image of her supermodel mother, paying homage to Cindy Crawford in a white bodycon Hervé Léger number at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.

Beyond her everyday wardrobe filled with boho blouses and status sneakers, Gerber has proven herself an expert at red carpet fashion too, recently taking up the mantle of styling herself for events. She delivered her first major self-styled moment at the 2024 Time100 Gala, when she was the first person to wear a black fringed Ferragamo minidress from spring 2025, just weeks after it debuted on the runway.

But perhaps Gerber’s biggest flex to date came just last month at the 2024 Academy Museum Gala, when she called on her longtime friend Sarah Burton—Givenchy’s incoming creative director—to lend a hand. The model hit the red carpet in a black My Fair Lady-inspired couture dress from Alexander McQueen’s tenure at Givenchy. Not only was it a prize piece of vintage, but it predated the model herself, hailing from the fall 1997 couture collection.
