One Piece Reveals First-Look Images of Its New York Fashion Week Runway Show

Fashion label Dim Mak and Toei Animation recently collaborated for a special One Piece runway show at New York Fashion Week, aiming to push the boundaries of traditional anime-inspired fashion.

On Sept. 9, 2024, the popular One Piece anime made history, appearing at New York Fashion Week for the first time with the all-new “DIM MAK X ONE PIECE: Spring/Summer 2025 Collection.” Via a press release, the runway show immersed the audience using images and elements from the TV series, as well as a diverse lineup of models, which included Olympics track & field Olympic Bronze medalist Junelle Bromfield and reigning world champion Noah Lyles, both of whom identify as hardcore anime fans. Steve Aoki, creative director of the collection, aimed to push boundaries with dynamic silhouettes, bold elements and bright colors from the series. The press release spotlights the bomber-style jacket, with multiple variants including Zoro, Lilith and Luffy’s Gear 5, the graphic printed athletic mesh jersey, which was seen in the looks inspired by Bonney, Trafalgar Law, Franky and York, and the tapestry-inspired embroidered jacket serving as the closing finale look for Gear 5. The DIM MAK X ONE PIECE collection also featured new accessories, such as caps, trucker & faux fur-lined quilted satin trapper hats and a molded silicone boot inspired by Egghead, all in an immersive runway experience brought in collaboration with Toei Animation.

About the event, Aoki said, “This collaboration between Dim Mak and One Piece is a dream come true. It’s a mashup of everything I love — fashion, music, and anime — all in one. As a huge fan of One Piece and Luffy, I’m super inspired by his drive, his fearless spirit, and how he turns obstacles into opportunities. This partnership is all about celebrating that energy with bold, dynamic fashion that captures the vibe of One Piece while repping the street style that Dim Mak is all about.” The fashion label has previously worked with One Piece, with Aoki detailing the collection exclusively to CBR in a 2022 interview, in addition to working with InuYasha, Naruto, Attack on Titan and more.

Fans can stream the entirety of One Piece on Crunchyroll, with the latest batch of English dubbed episodes (1086-1096) heading to the platform on Sept. 17. The series is officially described: “Monkey D. Luffy refuses to let anyone or anything stand in the way of his quest to become the king of all pirates. With a course charted for the treacherous waters of the Grand Line and beyond, this is one captain who’ll never give up until he’s claimed the greatest treasure on Earth: the Legendary One Piece!”
