OnePlus 13 Tipped To Feature 24GB Of LPDDR5X RAM, Memory Upgrade Could Likely Be To Run On-Device Generative AI Feature Seamlessly

One of the first flagships to be announced with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be the OnePlus 13, and earlier this month, we witnessed the device obtain some incredible single-core and multi-core results that would put the competition to shame. One other area where the upcoming handset is expected to one-up its future rivals is in the RAM department, with a tipster claiming that the smartphone would ship with 24GB of LPDDR5X memory. With the generative AI category exploding, it makes sense that the OnePlus 13 will flaunt a hefty amount of RAM, as running various on-device features can be quite memory-intensive.

No word if the OnePlus 13 will ship with 24GB LPDDR5X RAM as standard or if there will be a lower-tier option available at a more affordable price

An early rumor was doing the rounds, claiming that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 would be complemented with LPDDR6 RAM. Unfortunately, Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station sets the record straight by providing some specification information about the OnePlus 13. He states that the flagship will be the only model out of the several incoming devices with 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM. This year, we have seen a handful of Android smartphones, such as the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro and ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro, that feature 24GB RAM, but this move was likely made to gain bragging rights over the hardware side of things than anything else.

Seeing on-device generative AI being adopted rapidly makes perfect sense as to why smartphone makers are focusing on increasing the RAM count on their handsets. Even Samsung is rumored to bring 16GB RAM to its Galaxy S25 Ultra after limiting its most premium model to 12GB memory for several years. Also, a previous report mentioned that going forward, manufacturers would have to incorporate 20GB RAM as standard in smartphones so they can run on-device applications without running into performance bottlenecks.

Unfortunately, the tipster has not pointed out if the OnePlus 13 will ship with 24GB LPDDR5X RAM as standard or if the company intends to offer a 16GB variant for a lower price. What we do know is that, on paper, the OnePlus 13 is starting to appear more impressive. As we learn about the handset, we will make sure that you hear about those updates, so stay tuned.
