OnePlus Watch 3 adds ECG, ’60-second checkup,’ other health features, ‘Pro’ model

It looks like there’s a OnePlus Watch 3 right around the corner, and the latest leaks are revealing some of the new health features of the smartwatch, as well as an upcoming “Pro” model.

The OnePlus Watch 2 wasn’t exactly lacking on health features, but it had a fairly basic suite of sensors and tracking metrics, with some of the more advanced features from other watches missing. That’s set to change, though, as OnePlus Watch 3 is adding support for ECG and other new options.

The new features were first spotted by Android Authority, and we’ve since confirmed that they do appear in the latest OHealth update, v4.30.11, though they’re not active on existing models. The first feature, as mentioned, is ECG support, with the Watch 3 able to “record, store, and display your ECG data” including the detection of “sinus rhythm and atrial fibrillation.”

There’s also a new option to measure your “wrist temperature,” or skin temperature, when wearing the watch overnight. This is also supported by the Pixel Watch through the Fitbit app and many other smartwatches. Another new option is “60-second checkup,” which OnePlus explains as follows:

60 Seconds Checkup is a health measurement function on wearable devices, which can scan 4 major health risks (heart health, vascular elasticity, body temperature changes, sleep apnea) and measure 7 health indicators (ECG, vascular age, heart rate, blood oxygen, pressure, wrist temperature, sleep) in 60 seconds.

The report also mentions that the OHealth app is adding a new “Health” tab, but this is existing functionality that’s been in place since the OnePlus Watch 2 launched. What appears to be new are “Health Insights” and “Health Journey” features that show health data trends.

Beyond that, the same app update also adds “OnePlus Watch 3” to the list of supported devices, as well as “OnePlus Watch 3 Pro,” a device we hadn’t previously heard about. The model number for that smartwatch, WWE251, did previously appear through the FCC. That listing revealed a drastically bigger battery compared to the OnePlus Watch 2, which suggests that the main OnePlus Watch 3 may not have such a big power pack, with additional battery life potentially being a selling point of the “Pro.”

The OnePlus Watch 2 launched in March of 2024, which hints that the sequel could be coming rather soon.
