The Orcutt Babe Ruth 13’s All-Star team’s rally from six runs down came up short, and Orcutt dropped its first-round game in the Babe Ruth 13’s Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament Monday.
Orcutt scored four runs in the fifth inning, but Knights Elite of San Tan, Arizona kept enough of its six-run lead to win 6-4. The tournament is taking place through Saturday at Bakersfield.
Orcutt is the Central California No. 1 representative. Orcutt won the Babe Ruth Central California State Tournament.
A three-run Emmit Lee home run in the first inning staked Knights Elite to a 3-0 lead, and the Arizona representative never looked back. Lee hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth.
Zander Andersen and Nikko Nevarez drove in a run apiece for Orcutt in the bottom of the fifth. Six Orcutt players had a hit apiece. Orcutt garnered nine walks, and Andersen and Mason Padilla drew three walks each.
Dominic Quiroga gave Orcutt solid relief pitching, giving up two hits and one run in his three innings pitched.

At press time Monday, Orcutt was scheduled to play either South Lake Tahoe or Northwest Bakersfield, the host team, Tuesday at 11 a.m. in an elimination game. South Lake Tahoe is the Nevada representative.
Tri-Valley 2, Orcutt 14U 1
The Northern Cal representative edged Orcutt in the first round of the Babe Ruth 14U Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament at Murray, Utah Monday.
At press time, Orcutt, the Central Cal No. 2 representative, was scheduled to play either Vernal, the Utah No. 1 representative, or El Segundo, the Southern Cal No. 2 representative, Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in an elimination game.
