Original ‘Train’ Bassist, Charlie Colin, Dies Aged 58
Charlie Colin, the founding bassist of the pop-rock band ‘Train,’ has died at the age of 58. The California native tragically passed away after slipping and falling in the shower while house-sitting for a friend in Brussels, Belgium. His body was discovered only after friends returned from their trip, approximately five days after his death. He had been sharing his experiences abroad on Instagram, where he recently described Brussels as his “favorite city”. In the ’90s, Colin helped form ‘Train’ alongside Pat Monahan, Rob Hotchkiss, Jimmy Stafford, and Scott Underwood. He contributed to recording major hits like ‘Drops of Jupiter’ and ‘Meet Virginia’ before leaving the band in 2003 due to substance abuse issues. In 2015, Colin reunited with Hotchkiss and Underwood to form the band ‘Painbirds’ with Tom Luce. Raised in Newport Beach, Colin’s musical journey began in middle school with Hotchkiss, later leading to the formation of ‘Train’.
