Orlando International Airport expects 900K travelers for Labor Day travel period

ORLANDO, Fla. – Labor day may mark the traditional end of summer, but for Central Florida, it marks another busy travel weekend.

Orlando International Airport officials said around 900,000 people are expected to go through MCO over the six-day holiday travel period – a 1.4% jump from last year – with Labor Day expected to be the busiest day with 164,000 travelers.

According to AAA, overall domestic travel for the holiday weekend is up 9% compared to 2023, while the cost to travel down 2%.

“Americans see the extended Labor Day weekend as an opportunity to say farewell to summer with one final trip,” said Debbie Haas, Vice President of Travel for AAA – The Auto Club Group

MCO officials recommend the following tips to holiday travelers:

• Check flight status and security wait times on the MCO website or mobile app. Consider using TSA Precheck or CLEAR for expedited security screening.

• Pack smart and avoid checking bags if possible.
