Over 25% of top 32 players used one of two Tekken 8 characters at Electric Clash

With Tekken 8 now being out almost three months now, we’re starting to see more large tournaments go down for the game, which lets us see the characters players are gravitating towards early on.

Electric Clash 2024 kicked off as the first Challenger Event for the Tekken World Tour 2024 this weekend where most of the best competitors from across North America and beyond showed up, and with the action winding down, we’ve gone back and looked at what fighters made it the farthest.

When taking a look at the overview, there ended up being 18 different mains present in the top 32 of Electric Clash with 10 of them being repeat picks (plus a couple more for secondaries).

What definitely stood out, however, was the 5 Dragunov players in the upper brackets including 2 in the top 8 between NYCT|FearOfSilence and FaZe|Joey Fury.

Feng ended up taking second place in the popularity picks here with 3 mains in the top 32, so if you combine his and Dragunov’s numbers together, those two characters equate to 25% of the whole finals pool (or more if you count the multiple secondary picks too).

That definitely seems to line up with how strong players have been viewing the pair lately, but beyond that, there was a pretty decent spread overall.

We even got to see 2 Kumas as well as a Zafina make it far in the tournament though we also had 2 repeats in top 8 between Dragunov and Feng.

With 245 competitors signed up for the event, these character stats represent the best 13% of players here.
