Over a hundred jobs lost in Lee Brass plant closure in Calhoun County

In Calhoun County, the Lee Brass plant has closed, leaving over 100 people without jobs.

According to theAnniston Star, employees found out about the plant’s closing on Friday, August 9, in a break room letter that said the plant would be shut down the week of August 12-16.

On Tuesday, August 14, employees were informed the plant would not be reopening and all employees needed to pick up their belongings from the facility.

On Tuesday, the HR department made a post on Facebook addressing the status of Lee Brass, giving former employees information on where to collect their last checks along with hiring information for other jobs.

Don Hopper, the Executive Director of the Calhoun County Economic Development Council says that the council was not given any notice of the facility’s closing.

Hopper says that the city is working to have a job fair for people who have lost their jobs.

At this time, it is not clear as to why the owners of Lee Brass decided to close the facility.

We will continue to provide updates on this story.
