Over the borderline: Madonna fan breaks world record with 18 tattoos of singer
She went over the “Borderline.”
An extreme Madonna fan with 18 tattoos of the singer broke the Guinness World Record for the female with the most body art of the same musician.
Tara Berry of Topeka, Kansas, beat out the previous record holder, Nikki Patterson of Scotland, who had 15 tattoos of Eminem.
Berry began getting portraits of Madge, 65, inked on her body in 2016 because the pop star was looking for fans with tattoos inspired by her to star in a music video, according to the record book.
When she first started getting tattooed, she was also aspiring to win a contest at the Kansas City Tattoo Convention. Neither of those things panned out, but then she read about Patterson.
“Most of the tattoos were over a six-month period. I already had two Madonna portrait tattoos when I read about the person that had the Guinness World Records title at that time with 15 Eminem tattoos,” she told the organization.
“I begged, borrowed, worked out deals, anything to move forward in the process.”
Berry, who works at T-Mobile, gets a lot of her attention for her homage to the Material Girl.
“I get stared at and gasps a lot,” she said of the portraits, which depict Madonna from the 1980s through today, and one features her infamous Britney Spears kiss from the 2003 MTV VMAs.
“All kinds of people touch my arms or ask if they can, some grab my arm very enthusiastically. I welcome it all. Many, many people ask if they can take pictures and video my arms. I’m happy to oblige.”
She said she’s “still in shock” that she’s the “Lucky Star” who took home the title.
“I really never thought I would get it.” she said.
“I was expecting bad news when I found out by email. It just hasn’t sunk in yet. I’ve wanted this so bad and did whatever it took to get it.”
