A pair who were arrested by both State Troopers and deputies from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office for numerous charges regarding a string of burglaries, are now facing charges by the City of Cortland Police Department.

Cortland Police say they have charged both 25 year old Robert A. Snyder and 29 year old Victoria E. Rose with numerous felony and misdemeanor charges after an investigation was opened by Cortland Police for a larceny that took place back on October 21st.

CPD says back on October 21st, they responded to a report of a larceny from a vehicle at the Planet Fitness located at the Riverside Plaza. Stolen from the vehicle was a wallet containing IDs, debit card, cash, insurance cards, and personal checks. Cortland Police say the vehicle was locked in the parking lot.

The investigation found the keys to the vehicle were stolen from an unlocked gym locker inside Planet Fitness. The complainant also told CPD they were missing $1,500 cash, a wedding band, and engagement ring, valued over $8,000.

Victoria Rose had signed up for membership at the Planet Fitness locations in both Cortland and Ithaca to gain access to the lockerrooms. She also joined Crunch Fitness in Ithaca. Surveillance footage obtained found both Rose and Snyder using the stolen credit cards and cash.

The following day from the original call, October 22nd, Cortland Police learned of another larceny that took place at Planet Fitness of a Key Bank credit card. The card was also stolen from an unlocked locker in the gym and was then used on October 22nd with charges over $2,000 at various retail stores in Cortland & Tompkins Counties. The victim didn’t know the card was stolen until they received an alert of the purchases.

Cortland Police would respond to three more incidents on November 3rd and 4th of larcenies and unauthorized charges on credit cards stemming from thefts at Planet Fitness. Rose and Snyder racked up another $2,800 in credit card charges on the stolen cards.

CPD issued warrants for the arrest of both Victoria Rose and Robert Snyder after investigating the five separate incidents. The pair face charges of Grand Larceny in the 3rd, 5 counts of Grand Larceny in the 4th, 7 counts of Identity Theft in the 2nd, 6 counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, all Felonies. They also have 13 counts each of Misdemeanor charges.

Victoria Rose was already in the custody of the Cayuga County Jail and is awaiting arraignment on Cortland Police charges. Robert Snyder was arraigned in Cortland City Court on November 27th and was released. The pair still face dozens of charges by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and State Police.
