Panthers legend Luke Kuechly joining CBS Sports as an analyst

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Carolina Panthers legend Luke Kuechly will join CBS Sports Network as an in-game college football analyst for select games during the upcoming season, according to multiple reports.

Per The Athletic’s Joe Person, Kuechly is expected to appear in the broadcast booth for those games.

While his new gig will be the former All-Pro linebacker’s first in television, it won’t be his first in media, or even broadcast media. He worked alongside former Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme and Anish Shroff as part of Carolina’s radio broadcast team this past season.

Known for his intense film study and attention to detail, Kuechly’s knowledge of the game made him one of the best linebackers ever. Some players said he studied film to the point where he knew what play opponents were going to run before the ball was even snapped.

A Panthers fan favorite, Kuechly is expected to work alongside former NFL player Logan Ryan, according to On3 Sports.

Despite playing only eight seasons in the NFL, Kuechly was named a first- or second-team All-Pro every season except his rookie year, when he took home Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. He retired at age 28 after battling concussions throughout his career.

Kuechly was Carolina’s first-round choice in the 2012 draft after starring at Boston College.

Another former Panthers star, Greg Olsen, will be making somewhat of a transition for the 2024 season, moving from Fox Sports’ top NFL commentator job to the second crew. The network made the move after adding Tom Brady as its lead in-game analyst.
