Passion and perseverance behind the scenes at Jamileh Kamran fashion school show
Some local student designers will show off their creations this weekend at an “Emerging Designers Fashion Show”
The students at the Jamileh Kamran fashion school are wrapping up their projects this week, and with their colorful fabrics, designs and artistic personalities, these students are ready to put on a show.
Fashion, fabrics and fun, just a few things to highlight about the fashion show.
Students have worked hard all semester long on their pieces and they say its hard work, but very rewarding.
“Yeah, this is the kind of thing that I’ve been spending every day and every night for the last month working for, like the show. It takes a lot of energy, but it’s going to pay off when I see it on the runway for sure,” says second year fashion school student, Safi Waqas.
Waqas just finished her first year at the fashion school and is currently working on 7 full outfits to debut at the fashion show.
She says there’s so much more to the art of fashion than just wearing it.
“Time management and perseverance, I think would be the two biggest things because what looks like a simple shirt will take hours and hours of not just doing something once but doing it over and over again until it’s perfect. Because if you have fabric fold over, you’re going to have to redo it. If you want it to look good, you have to put that effort in.”
Waqas goes to school full time, works, and because of her passion for fashion, she uses any free time left over for fashion school
“One of my favorite quotes that I found since being at this school is, “If you want something done quickly, you have to do it slowly.”
The fashion show is Sunday afternoon at 10 Chenal Country Club Boulevard and starts at 1:30 pm.
