Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte’s gambling charges have been dropped | Sporting News

After the New England Patriots wrapped up their 2023 campaign, things got worse when rookie wide receiver Kayshon Boutte was arrested for illegal sports gambling during his college career at LSU.

Now, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the state of Louisiana has dropped the underage gambling and computer fraud charges.

By using an alias, Boutte was found to place bets from April 6, 2022, until May 7, 2023, at 20 years old. It’s believed that this account placed nearly 9,000 bets, including multiple involving his own school.

Boutte could still face punishment from the league in the form of a suspension or fine, as he looks to earn a roster spot in a tightly contested wide receiver room in 2024.
