Penn High School dedicates renamed sports performance center
MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) – Penn High School held a dedication ceremony for its newly renamed sports performance center on Friday morning.
The naming rights for the Culver’s Sports Performance Center went into effect in May after co-owners Mark Nowak, a 1997 Penn grad, and Keith Remington donated $125,000 over 12 years to the P-H-M Education Foundation.
Per P-H-M Education Foundation’s naming rights fundraising initiative, 80% of the donation will go into Foundation’s endowment, which will in turn provide funding for teacher/classroom grants and various co-curricular and extracurricular programs in P-H-M schools. The remaining 20% directly funds P-H-M teacher professional development initiatives.
To date the foundation has given $1.6 million disbursements in classroom grants.
“What it really comes down to is the community relationships,” Nowak says. “We like to build the community, and we want to strengthen and what really solidifies strengthening your community by sponsoring the performance center.”
Culver’s is also providing the “uniform T-shirts” that Penn students will wear during strength and conditioning classes. It’s an annual gift valued at $7,000.
