Penn State Men’s Basketball: Nittany Lions To Host Oregon, Washington and Travel to USC and UCLA During First Season Of New Big Ten

The Big Ten announced on Wednesday afternoon the single-play and double-play opponents for the 2024-25 men’s basketball conference schedule. In total Penn State will face 14 single-play opponents and three double-play opponents in the 20-game Big Ten slate. The newly expanded conference now features west coast programs Washington, Oregon, USC and UCLA.

Penn State will face all four teams once over the course of the 2024-25 regular season, traveling to USC and UCLA while hosting Washington and Oregon.

As for teams the Nittany Lions will face both at home and on the road, those include Indiana, Minnesota and Rutgers. In terms of teams the Nittany Lions will only host during the regular season, that seven team slate will consist of Maryland, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oregon, Purdue and Washington. Penn State will travel on the road for their only matchups of the regular season against Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, UCLA, USC and Wisconsin.

The schedule itself will be released at a later date. Among the most interesting dynamics is the question if Penn State will face UCLA and USC in the same stretch of days, staying out west for a brief period of time, or travel back across the country prior to an eventual return trip. In the meanwhile Penn State is 3-1 all-time against the four new members of the Big Ten in Oregon (0-1), USC (2-0), UCLA (1-0) and Washington (0-0). All four previous matchups with the Big Ten’s new members have been neutral site contests, including a 1991 NCAA Tournament win over UCLA.

Dates, television network assignments and tipoff times for the Big Ten contests will be announced later this year.
