Percy “Master P” Miller Named City of New Orleans Entertainment Ambassador
In a significant move to bolster the city’s cultural and entertainment landscape, Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced that businessman and music mogul Percy “Master P” Miller has been named the official Entertainment Ambassador for the City of New Orleans. The announcement was made during a press conference attended by key city leaders, including State Representative Candace Newell, Councilman Eugene Green, Director of the Office of Cultural Economy Lisa Alexis, Director of the Office Economic Development Jeff Schwartz, Interim Director of Mayor’s Office of Nighttime Economy Michael Ince, and several others.
This appointment marks the beginning of a collaborative initiative aimed at stimulating entertainment and cultural opportunities in New Orleans. The effort seeks to leverage the city’s rich traditions while building a platform for future success. As Entertainment Ambassador, Master P will work alongside other influential New Orleans natives to develop and promote entertainment content across a wide range of mediums, including film, television, music streaming, culinary and visual arts.
One of the cornerstone projects of this initiative is the establishment of a “Hollywood South Collaborative,” a series of master-class environments designed to mentor and teach essential business skills within the entertainment industry. This collaborative effort will also serve as a promotional tool to attract concerts, special events and other entertainment productions to New Orleans.
Master P’s connection to New Orleans runs deep. Born and raised in New Orleans he attended Booker T. Washington High School and Warren Easton Charter School. As a student-athlete at the University of Houston, he studied Business Communications and later relocated to Richmond, CA where he opened his first small business, a record store he called No Limit Records. Within a few years, he turned it into a record label, which flourished into one of the biggest music brands in the industry. He expanded his portfolio to include success in television, film, acting, producing, sports, clothing and real estate.
This initiative will also focus on supporting the city’s live festival marketplace, implementing strategies to ensure the growth and success of event management companies in the region.
