Pete Davidson Reveals His Incredibly Low ‘SNL’ Pay. Prepare Yourself.
Pete Davidson’s revelation of how much he made per show on “Saturday Night Live” might make you cry instead of laugh for the comedian. In a New York Magazine video posted Wednesday (watch it below), Davidson noted offhand that he was paid $3,000.
The clip featured “SNL” stars new and old recalling what they splurged on after receiving their first paycheck from the NBC sketch-comedy show. But Davidson, a cast member from 2014 to 2022, disclosed a bit more.
“Do you guys know what they pay us?” Davidson said. “It’s like three grand an episode. I think I got dinner.”
It should be noted Davidson may have been estimating just his first-year rate which probably bumped up over the years.
Or he was just talking out his you-know-what to be funny.
A 2018 report from a questionable celebrity financial website claimed that first-year prime-time players reportedly earn about $7,000 per episode, $8,000 in the second and $15,000 in the fifth seasons.
But we wouldn’t take those figures to the bank.
Jason Sudeikis, a writer-turned-cast member between 2003 and 2013, also shed light on the remuneration in the New York Magazine clip. Asked about his first paycheck indulgence on “SNL,” the “Ted Lasso” actor replied: “You don’t make enough money to make big purchases, so I think New York rent was probably the biggest purchase I made after writing my first year on ‘SNL.’”
