Thirty students from the Business Technology Department at Pioneer Valley High School took a field trip to the California Science Center in Los Angeles on April 11.
Students spent time exploring the museum including sections on Air and Space Travel, Life and Biology, and Ecosystems. The theme throughout the exhibits was how things work and how technology affects the world with human inventions and innovations.
The Panthers engaged with the interactive exhibits where they had a hands-on opportunity to see how the world works. The exhibits also allowed them to dream about their future educational goals and careers. Lastly, the students were treated to a 3-D IMAX movie, “Cities of the Future”, in the center’s theater. The movie is about how science and technology are shaping the way people live and navigate in cities around the world.
Many students commented that they liked the variety of exhibits and activities, according to PV Business and Technology Department Teacher Erika Quintana.
“It was cool to see the aircrafts hanging from the roof,’’ said student Modesto Lopez, adding he would like to return to the museum in the future. “It was nice to be able to touch the starfish in the fish tank,’’ said student Andrea Cruz Marin.
“It was fun to experience the IMAX, as well as generally being in L.A.,’’ said student Alexander Valentin.
“The field trip allowed me to hang out with people I don’t normally hang out with, and I got to experience some cool attractions like the high-tech IMAX movie and pet the starfish,’’ said student Derek Ferate.
Student Abel Rodriguez summed up the field trip by describing the experience as, “10 out of 10.’’
