Mark your calendar: Mango festival, country music and live theater top our list of fun things to do in Brevard for June 21 through 27.

Due to potential changes and cancellations, we encourage you to check with presenting organizations about the status of their events.  

1. Mango Harvest Festival on Merritt Island

The Mango Harvest Festival at Sams House Nature Center, 6195 N. Tropical Trail, Merritt Island, returns on  Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guests can enjoy live demonstrations of mango recipes such as dehydrated mangos, pickled green mangoes, mango salsa, mango chutney and more. Mangoes and mango-related delicacies including jams, hot sauces, BBQ sauces, honey and baked goods will be available for purchase from local vendors. Brevard Tropical Fruit Club members will demonstrate mango tree air layering techniques and will be available to answer questions. Live entertainment will be provided by Steel Drum Man Franke Lutz starting at noon. Food trucks and kettle corn are available also. The 1875 Sams Cabin will be open with exhibits on the Sams family, Ice Age fossils and Native Americans who once inhabited this site. 2. Brett Young in concert in Cocoa Village

Country singer Brett Young will give a concert at Cocoa Riverfront Park, 401 Riveredge Blvd., Cocoa Village, on Thursday, June 27 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The event takes place rain or shine. Bring a poncho or rain jacket, but umbrellas will not be permitted. Tickets start at $40. Visit cocoafl.gov or axs.com.

3. ‘Welcome Summer’ sock hop in Eau Gallie

Melbourne Municipal Band presents a “Welcome Summer Sock Hop” at the Eau Gallie Civic Center, 1551 Highland Ave., Melbourne, on Friday, June 21 at 7 p.m. The Rock & Roll Review will get your toes tapping, so remember to wear your dancing shoes. Free dance lessons will be offered starting at 6 p.m. The event is BYOB. Tickets are $15. Call 321-339-7705 or visit mmband.org.

4. Live theater across Brevard

  • ‘Nuts’: The play is on stage at Melbourne Civic Theatre, 817 E. Strawbridge Ave., through June 23. This scorching courtroom drama follows a call girl’s court hearing to determine her competency to stand trial for murder. Tickets are $35. Call 321-723-6935 or visit mymct.org.
  • ‘The Mummy Fractured’: The comedy is playing at Surfside Playhouse, 301 Ramp Road, Cocoa Beach, through June 30. This original comedy offers a fresh, fun take on the classic horror story of The Mummy. Tickets start at $25. Call 321-783-3127 or visit surfsideplayhouse.com.
  • Readers’ Theater: ‘From the Script to the Stand’: Surfside Playhouse, 301 Ramp Road, Cocoa Beach, presents “Readers’ Theater: From the Script to the Stand” on Saturday, June 22 at 2 p.m. The event will feature an assortment of one act original works written by Florida playwrights and directed/moderated by Nancy Matican-Bock. 5. Flick-N-Float movie: ‘The Little Mermaid’

Watch the 2023 movie ‘The Little Mermaid’ (PG) from the pool at McLarty Park Aquatic Center, 790 Barton Blvd., Rockledge, on Friday, June 21. Swimming begins at 7 p.m., and the movie starts at 8:30 p.m. The cost to swim is $4, and the movie is free to watch whether you’re in the pool or on the lawn. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Tubes will be provided for floating in the pool, but outside flotation devices are not allowed. The event may be canceled in the event of severe weather. 6. Summer Fine Arts Theater Workshop student musicals

Brevard Public Schools in cooperation with the Phoenix Foundation of Central Florida presents two musicals featuring high school students from around Brevard. 

  • ‘Catch Me If You Can’: The musical based upon the hit film and incredible true story will be at Satellite High School, 300 Scorpion Court, Satellite Beach, on June 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. and June 29 at 2 p.m. This splashy spectacle follows the high-flying adventures of a globetrotting con artist.   • ‘Shrek the Musical’: Everyone’s favorite ogre is back in the hilarious stage spectacle based on the hit film. It will be at Titusville High School, 150 Terrier Trail S., Titusville, on June 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. and June 29 at 2 p.m. The show is about Shrek, an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. 7. Tour the historic home at Green Gables

Green Gables, 1501 S. Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne, will host an open house every Saturday in June, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The historic home is a living history museum showcasing life in the early years of Melbourne. Visitors will learn about the history of the Wells family, who played a key role in the development of the community. The cost is $10, or free for children 12 and younger. Visit greengables.org
