Planet Fitness launches free summer gym access for high schoolers
A new program allows high school students ages 14-19 to work out for free at any Plant Fitness gym until August 31.
Sen. Rachel May joined Planet Fitness Tuesday to celebrate the launch of the High School Summer Pass program.
“Teens should have access to fitness and wellness resources, regardless of their financial situation. Providing these services free of charge gives all teens a chance at a healthy and active lifestyle. This initiative reflects a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that no teen is left behind when prioritizing their physical and mental well-being,” Sen. May said.
Eligible high school students can work out for free this summer at any of the 43 Planet Fitness locations in Upstate and Central New York and across the country and Canada. All High School Summer Pass participants will also have access to free fitness training from in-club certified fitness trainers, free workouts designed specifically for high schoolers in the free Planet Fitness App as well as workout plans available online.
Since the High School Summer Pass program began, Planet Fitness has invested more than $200 million in waived membership dues to promote youth health and wellness and improve the physical and mental health of millions of teens. The program helps teens prioritize their physical and mental health during a critical time of year when school is out, and important academic or extracurricular activities are on pause.
“We were thrilled to welcome Senator May, local teens, and the Syracuse community to kick off our High School Summer Pass program,” said John Hrinda, Vice President of Field Operations at IGNITE Fitness Holdings. “We know how important exercise is for teens’ mental and physical health, especially without the opportunities provided during the school year, and hope students take advantage of this amazing opportunity.”
