Planet Fitness lead trainer shows how to beat the heat with low-intensity indoor workouts

When the mercury rises and the temperatures soar, keep cool while staying active with this low intensity workout to do indoors, such as any Planet Fitness location.

National Lead Trainer for Planet Fitness and workout expert Teddy Savage joined us on the show today to demonstrate simple low energy exercises anyone can try.

Savage recommends to start with a 5 minute ride stationary bike ride, set at a low to moderate speed, to increase your body’s bpm without exhausting yourself.

Then, kick the weights to the curb and grab a resistance band. Using a Resistance Band helps keep the muscles under positive stress, while keeping the intensity lower and allowing you to enjoy the movement. Exercises Savage recommends are;

  • Resistance Band Biceps Curl to Shoulder Press (2 x 12)
  • Resistance Band Bent Row to Triceps Kickback (2 x 12)

After these, grab a mat and target the lower body. A mat can be just as effective to build strength as a dumbbell can, it’s more about the mind to muscle connection and less about big bulky weights. Great examples of these exercises are;

  • Lying Glute Bridge (2 x :40 seconds)
  • Prone Leg Extension to Crossovers (2 x:40 seconds)

After your workout, Savage recommends to take 5 minutes to cool down, highlighting the rest and recovery phase of a workout routine is vital for growth and progression.
