Platte River Fitness Series hosts 23rd annual Tri-Nebraska Triathlon
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – Many people were ready to conquer the triathlon at North Platte Recreation Center on Saturday. The Platte River Fitness Series Tri-Nebraska Triathlon has now been around for 23 years.
About 125 people participated in the triathlon. Many people could conquer the swimming, biking, and running independently or work together with friends as a relay team.
The Tri-Nebraska Race Director Brock Wurl said this event is so special to him because of one reason, his kids.
“It means a lot to see my kids participate and it’s something I’ve enjoyed for a long time and to have them take part in that, is really enjoyable for me,” said Wurl.
Triathlon participant Micah Dunn said this race means a whole lot to him too.
“I mean it’s all about being fit and living a healthy lifestyle and I’ve been on a journey for that the last year and it’s exciting to see that kind of come to fruition and be able to do that,” said Dunn.
The next Platte Fitness Series event is the Tyler Vanderheiden Memorial 2M and 5M on May 25.
