PlayStation 5 quietly rolls out new settings you’ll want to change immediately
As part of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary celebrations, the PlayStation 5 has had a sneaky update to reflect many years of gaming.
If you turn on your PlayStation 5 today, you’ll notice a new bootup screen with audio that will bring back floods of memories.
The PlayStation 5 Pro console is a great way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of PlayStation.
Sony have added the new startup video and backgrounds for fans to relive the glory days of the company’s older consoles.
You’ll be able to change which console to highlight within the settings, choosing from PS2, PS3, PS4, or the original PlayStation.
While you can’t tweak the startup audio – this is always the PS1 booting sounds – your background is fully changeable.
This is for a limited time only, so we assume it’ll be around for a couple of months while the celebrations are in full swing.
Of course, practically every message on Twitter is calling for this to be a permanent feature, so who knows, maybe Sony will bless us after a time.
I’ve just updated my console and was blasted with the flashbang white screen on the OG PlayStation, and suddenly I was 15 again, sitting in front of my boxy TV in my bedroom.
It’s an utter joy. The little details really make this a standout update, like the tinny clink of moving between games in the PS3 dashboard.
It does make me wish that more companies would bring back better customisation options.
The want is there, with millions of fans asking for dynamic backgrounds or themes.
We’re dropping a heck of a lot of money on these consoles, let us make them truly ours by showcasing our favourite games or having an immersive background.
If you want to play around with your theme, simply boot up your PS5, and you’ll be guided through to the settings where you can choose your favourite console.
