PlayStation State of Play: Ghost of Yōtei debut, Hell is Us, Fortnite DualSense Controller, new PS5 Chroma, more
As we reported yesterday, Sony is hosting the next State of Play this afternoon and we are here to watch it along with you. We knew there was going to be 30+ minutes of news and updates on upcoming PS5 games and PS VR2 titles, as per Sony’s official announcement, but it looks like an update on the PlayStation Store might have given up, at least, some of the surprises we would have been in for today as well (more details on this below). We aren’t expecting to see any new hardware, considering how busy Sony has been on that front over the last week or so with PS5 Pro and the 30th anniversary PS1-style consoles and controllers, but either way it all starts very soon and you can follow along down below.
PlayStation State of Play September showcase
As far as the official announcement is concerned, we don’t have any idea of what’s coming in today’s State of Play showcase. But Sony has now, according to reports, updated the PlayStation Store with a new State of Play section that might very well be giving up some major clues.
The Store update includes titles like ASTRO BOT, The Last of Us Part I, Stellar Blade, Horizon Zero Dawn, LEGO Horizon Adventures, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Monster, Hunter Wilds, Metro Awakening, Dynasty Warriors: Origins, FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, Fear the Spotlight, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Alan Wake II, and Hell is Us.
Now clearly not all of these titles are new – in fact this list might just be mostly made up of games that have already been featured in the State of Pay showcases previously, which seems to be the case. However, games like Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Hell is Us as well as FANTASIAN Neo Dimension and Fear the Spotlight have not – we also caught reports of a now removed trailer for some TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge DLC. All that said, it would certainly makes sense to see some kind of update or look at any of these titles in today’s presentation.
But it won’t be long now until we find out for sure. Today’s PlayStation State of the Play showcase kicks off at 3 p.m PT/6 p.m. ET with a roughly 30-minute runtime. Be sure to come back and follow along below.

Ghost of Yōtei – Announce Trailer | PS5 Games
In 1603, a new Ghost named Atsu sets out on a journey in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, an area filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. Ghost of Yōtei comes to PS5 in 2025.
We also wanted to continue to innovate. To create something fresh but familiar, we looked beyond Jin Sakai’s story and the island of Tsushima, and shifted our focus to the idea of the Ghost instead. At Sucker Punch we love origin stories, and we wanted to explore what it could mean to have a new hero wearing a Ghost mask, and uncovering a new legend. This led us to Ghost of Yōtei: a new protagonist, a new story to unfold, and a new region of Japan to explore.
While we aren’t diving into story specifics yet today, we can reveal that Atsu’s journey takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Our story is set in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan known as Hokkaido in present day. In 1603, this area was outside the rule of Japan, and filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. It’s a far cry from the organized samurai clans who lived in Tsushima, and it’s the setting for an original story we can’t wait to tell.
This is also Sucker Punch’s first game built from the ground up for PlayStation 5, and we’re excited to build on the visual foundation we established in Ghost of Tsushima by making the world feel even more real. We have massive sightlines that let you look far across the environment, whole new skies featuring twinkling stars and auroras, even more believable movement from wind on grass and vegetation, and more improvements we’ll share in the future. Our new setting also gives us the opportunity to introduce new mechanics, gameplay improvements, and even new weapons.
Our trailer today offers a glimpse into this world, but there’s so much more to show, and we’ll have much more to share in the months ahead, including details about Atsu’s journey and the people (and animals) she’ll meet along the way. We are forever grateful for the success of Ghost of Tsushima, and we can’t wait for you all to experience Ghost of Yōtei in 2025.
