Plenty of fun on tap at Fremont nightclub

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Moonshine is a hard-core liquor that was often made and distributed illegally. The name comes from the fact that it was usually created at night to avoid detection. There’s a Sandusky County nightclub that serves modern-day moonshine and a whole lot more

Front Street in downtown Fremont has undergone a major revitalization in recent years. The MoonShine Nightclub is part of the rebirth. It’s described as an entertainment venue with everything from a bar and full kitchen to an arcade, live entertainment and event space.

“There is something new and exciting every day. It’s never the same at MoonShine Nightclub. There are different kinds of entertainment. We might have a rap concert one day and a country concert the next. It just depends on what our guests are looking for,” Eric Ottney, the General Manager said. “A lot of buildings in downtown was vacant, other than the movie theater. Now, there are things to do. You can go out for a nice dinner, drinks, live entertainment or have coffee with friends. It’s been cool to watch and we’re not done yet.”

There are also plenty of other activities at the nightclub for the young and the young at heart.

“We’re changing things all the time. We’re always adding new kinds of entertainment,” Ottney said.

During the day, it’s a place kids can enjoy.

“We have all the arcade games, we host birthday parties, family events, all kinds of different events. Kids can stay until 9 p.m. at night on weekdays and until 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays,” Adrienne Widman, the Assistant GM said.

There are certainly plenty of things for the big kids, too.

“We do music bingo, karaoke, corn hole tournaments, a little bit of everything. I love being part of it,” Widman said.

Widman said there’s also an upstairs space.

“We’ve had weddings, bachelor parties, bridal showers, Easter and Mother’s Day brunches are up there, too,” Widman said.

And when it comes to the club’s namesake, Ottney said there are several options to sit and sip.

“We have apple pie, blackberry, peach and fruit punch-flavored moonshine,” Ottney said.

Some of the concerts at the club have brought in people from places like Cleveland and Detroit.

Ottney said the MoonShine Nightclub is part of a family of restaurants in Fremont that include fine dining, a deli and an Italian restaurant.
