Police investigating deadly shooting outside Henderson business as self defense

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Henderson Police Department says that a deadly shooting that took place outside a business could have been self defense.

The shooting happened Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Marks Street. FOX5 obtained video of police response to the scene.

Henderson police are on scene in the 500 block of Marks Street investigating a deadly shooting Wednesday.

Calls to 911 described that a shooting happened between two males in the parking lot of a shopping center.

Police said a 38-year-old male approached a vehicle with a firearm in a “confrontational manner.” Then, a second male from within the vehicle discharged his firearm toward the 38-year-old, striking him.

The confronted subject then drove away from the scene. Officers and paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene.

Police said there are no other injuries and the male who discharged his firearm from within his vehicle is cooperative with the investigation.

“Detectives are investigating this homicide as possibly being self-defense and no arrests were made,” police said.

The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications.

This is being investigated as the fifth homicide for the City of Henderson for 2024.
