Popular IN sports announcer Scott Alan dead in McLean Co crash

MCLEAN COUNTY (25News Now) – Scott Alan, a well-known emcee in the Indiana sports community, died in a car crash Monday.

The McLean County Coroner identified the man as Scott Mcilrath, 59, of Kokomo, Indiana, though he was known to most by the surname Alan. An autopsy showed Alan suffered multiple blunt injuries as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. The coroner said a toxicology test is pending, and the crash investigation is underway.

The McLean County Sheriff said deputies were called to 1600 North 400 East Road just after 5 p.m. for a two-vehicle crash with injuries. When they arrived, deputies saw the aftermath of the crash and noted the two vehicles involved were a 2019 Ford Escape and a 2020 Chevy Equinox.

Gibson area ambulance took the juvenile driver of the Equinox to OSF St. Joseph’s hospital, where he was in stable condition and released to his parents. Alan was found with fatal injuries as the driver of the Escape.

This incident remains under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and McLean County Sheriff’s Office.

Alan was also the Vice President of Operations at Bloomington Bison.

Jim Hallett, the owner of Indy Fuel and the Bloomington Bison, expressed his condolences in a heartfelt eulogy:
