WENATCHEE — The Chelan-Douglas Regional Port Authority has been awarded the 2024 Job Creator Award by the Washington Public Ports Association for its work on the Microsoft Data Center projects.

“The CDRPA’s support in Douglas County and successful recruitment in Chelan County of the Microsoft Data Centers will result in an approximately $2.4 billion investment in each county, marking a 11% rise in assessed value for Chelan County and a 26% rise in assessed value for Douglas County,” according to a CDRPA press release.

These are now the largest single private investment of each county to date. The CDRPA is confident that the investments will generate significant revenues which can then be reinvested into the local communities to promote sustainable economic development as well as ensure job availability for many years to come.

Six buildings are planned for each of the data center sites and roughly 75 jobs will be created per building.

“The CDRPA Board of Commissioners wants to thank all those who contributed to the success of this project but especially to Microsoft for the investment they have made in our communities,” said CDRPA commissioner Donn Etherington.
