Potosi business owners, residents clean up debris after streets flood
POTOSI, Wis. (WMTV) – Residents in the Village of Potosi are cleaning up debris after damaging storms and flooding on Monday.
“We will be prepared for the next one. I’ve seen six of these so far in the last 30 years,” Gary David, owner of Potosi Bottling said.
Gary David says he heard rumbling underneath his work shed.
“It was fortunate that we got it at four in the afternoon because I put my boots on and got my shovel and pushed everything back at the torrent so it could carry away and I would not be leaving debris and six inches of mud,” David said.
It was just another day in the office for the manager of Potosi Brewery when he received a call from the front of the restaurant.
“I looked out my office door and there’s a river of water down the street, sticks and mud,” Morgan Blake said.
Blake ran downstairs to check on customers and make sure the building did not flood.
“We had the city down here,” Blake said. “They had their snow plows out in the middle of June pushing all the debris up the clearing the streets off.”
Many people came out of their homes after the storm ended to look at the damage. Business owners and residents say they will continue cleanup on Tuesday.
