‘Power bank killer’ that can charge your phone in seconds

The device resembles a small toaster. After putting on a special case with a side cutout, a smartphone must be placed in the Swippitt Hub. When the phone is placed in the Swippitt Hub, it automatically extracts the charging cartridge and inserts it into the case, providing a battery charge of up to 100 percent in 30 seconds.

As a result, the user gets a phone with an additional 5,000 mAh battery, allowing the device’s runtime to be extended from 1 day to 1.5-2 days without the need to carry a power bank or charge it separately.

Swippitt Hub can hold five battery cartridges, enabling users to go a week without charging the phone itself, simply by replacing the cartridges in the case. Charging is wireless, making the device compatible only with flagship smartphones.

The Swippitt device costs $450, and the iPhone case must be purchased separately for $120. Cases are already available for iPhone 14, 15, and 16, with versions for Samsung coming in the future.

The company’s main challenge is adapting to the annual changes in smartphone designs and their batteries. For instance, with the release of the iPhone 16 featuring a new camera button, the case had to be quickly redesigned.

The first shipments of Swippitt will begin in April, but the company expects to get fully up to speed in a few months. Despite the high price, discounts of up to $100 are available in January, making the device more affordable.
