Preparing for holiday travel: Tips for a smoother journey

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – Holiday travel can be stressful, with crowded airports, busy highways and packed public transportation as everyone heads out to spend time with family and friends.

While the holidays bring joy, they also come with the need for careful planning to make sure your trip goes smoothly. The holiday season can be even more stressful if you are traveling last minute. That is why it is important to plan ahead before you leave.

KALB spoke with Ralph Hennessey, the Executive Director of AEX, to get some tips on how to be better prepared when traveling during the holidays.

“For us, the busiest travel days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday after Thanksgiving,” said Hennessey. “We recommend that travelers check the weather at their destination because weather can affect travel schedules. It’s a good idea to allow a little extra time in case there are any delays or issues along the way.”

According to AAA, a record 79.9 million people are expected to travel this holiday season.
