June is Pride month, a month to celebrate pride within the LGBTQ + community, and it has started with a police report in Coloma.

A Subway in Coloma had their pride flag stolen, the 3rd flag theft in the last year.

Businesses all across the county, changing logos and flying flags, to show their support.

Even with multiple cameras in the area, this theft still took place.

Those with the store said, both the month and flag are meant to create a safe place for all to express themselves.

“I think it’s very important to feel safe so people feel they are welcomed and so people feel like they can leave their houses and not be judged or attacked or anything. We like to say that we’re very safe here in terms of welcoming everyone that we possibly can.” said McKayla Alfaramo, Coloma Subway Assistant Manager.”

Jordan Lynch is the owner of the Subway on Paw Paw Lake Road.

He said, stealing the flag doesn’t really get under his skin. and he will just keep coming back stronger.

“Alright, we will fight this by going even bigger. So now we have pride pins like on our hat and our shirts, We’ve got signs on the door, stickers on the door, we will get a new flag every single time it does not bother me. The flags are not really that expensive, if you want to rip one off my building or another building, we’re just gonna replace them.” said Jordan Lynch, Coloma Subway Owner.”

Lynch said, he is a business owner not intending to create any problems.

He said, the only thing he wants to create is a safe and welcoming environment for anyone looking for a bite to eat.

“And Ultimately, it’s not like my pride in being a gay man is going to go away anymore because you take a flag off my building. Sorry not sorry. It doesn’t really affect me that much.” said Lynch.”

There are cameras all around the building and police are reviewing the footage.
