Projecting the Georgia travel roster for SEC opener at Kentucky
The Georgia Bulldogs are gearing up for their first SEC road game of the year. As such, the Bulldogs will have to make roster decisions in terms of who makes the trip to Lexington and who stays in Athens.
SEC teams are allowed to bring 74 players for road games. Kirby Smart explained deciding who makes the trip and who stays home boils down to a numbers game with a major emphasis on special teams.
“With 74 you’re not usually talking about starters. You’re talking about a travel roster of guys that are going to be, you know, emergency players, have to go in [if you] lose somebody,” Smart said. “We’ve been up there before and had a couple injuries and had to fill in with guys back at Kentucky. So, the 65th to the 74th guy are special teams picks and guys that can play on special teams.”
