QCA resident prepares for IRONMAN World Championships

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Morgan Meseke is not afraid of a physical endurance challenge.

She’s currently preparing for the IRONMAN World Championships in France this September.

An IRONMAN consists of 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of biking, and 26.2 miles of running.

Meseke has done three previous IRONMAN races and said she trains between 15 and 20 hours each week.

“If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail, and I never want to go through race day feeling like I got hit by a bus. Ya know, you never want to hit the wall, you never want to feel bad. So taking that training to the next level I think is important so that you feel good on race day,” Meseke said. “I think it’s taught me a lot more about discipline. I think if there is ever a stretch of training where I don’t want to do something, you kind of have to dig down a little deeper and find that extra motivation you didn’t know you had.”

On Aug. 16 there will be a fundraiser at the Columbus Club at 6 p.m. to help pay for travel expenses. To learn more about the event, click or tap here.
