Quincy, Ill. (KHQA) — The Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce has announced its 2025 inductees to the Business Hall of Fame.
Anthony “Tony” Crane and the late Carl G. Schmiedeskamp will be honored at the Business Hall of Fame Ceremony during the Annual Meeting Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at the Oakley-Lindsay Center.
Crane was the founding partner of Architechnics, and Schmiedeskamp was the former leader of Schmiedeskamp Robertson Neu Mitchell. They will join a prestigious group of innovators and community builders in Quincy.
Established in 2006, the Business Hall of Fame recognizes individuals and organizations for the impactful contributions to the Quincy area business community.
Bruce Guthrie, President/CEO of the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce, said, “This year’s honorees exemplify excellence and have made remarkable contributions to our community on so many levels. The Business Hall of Fame allows us to celebrate the substantial investments of innovators, leaders, and business owners whose efforts have made Quincy a better place.”

As a founding partner of Architechnics, Crane has shaped Quincy’s architecture with hallmark projects, including the Oakley-Lindsay Center. His 1976 thesis project at the University of Illinois laid the groundwork for Quincy’s Performing Arts and Convention Center, addressing a longstanding community need.
Beyond his professional achievements, Crane has been an active community volunteer, serving numerous civic organizations. His accolades include the Distinguished Service Award from the Quincy Jaycees, the Rotary Foundation District 6460 Service Award, and the Presidential Citation for Integrity on behalf of the Rotary Club of Quincy. He is also a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary International Foundation.
Chamber officials say the late Carl G. Schmiedeskamp was a distinguished trial lawyer and corporate attorney who left an indelible mark on Quincy’s business and civic landscape. As the driving force behind Schmiedeskamp Robertson Neu Mitchell LLP, he represented many Hall of Fame inductees and key business leaders.
Schmiedeskamp’s leadership extended beyond the courtroom. He was a founding member of the Moorman Foundation (now the CFM Foundation), long-time chairman of the Quincy Area Project, and a board member for organizations such as Mercantile Trust & Savings Bank and the Family Service Agency of Adams County. Today, his legacy endures through the law firm he led, which continues to represent clients nationwide.
