Quinlivan saw stardom for Bruins’ Swayman while at UMaine

SHREWSBURY, Mass. – Jeremy Swayman stole the show and the first-round playoff series victory for the Bruins over the Maple Leafs with ridiculous goaltending.

“Sway” was magnificent and clearly the reason for the Bruins series win. He played out of his mind.

While Boston fans were at once psyched and stunned by how well Swayman played, Shrewsbury native Jack Qulnlivan expected the performance from him.

You see, Quinlivan got to see just how good Swayman was – and could be – up close for three years on the University of Maine hockey team as teammates.

“We went into Maine together as freshman in 2017. We spent three years together,” said Quinlivan. “I think when we came in, you could see he had all the talent in the world.  As he developed, he just got better and better. His mental and physical preparation were better than anyone I’ve seen. He just excelled in that environment. He’s just a phenominal guy. I could always tell he was going to be this good, especially his time at Maine. He just carried our team and kept us in every game. This is the expectations I have for him right now with the Bruins.”

The Bruins are playing the Florida Panthers in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, and will be looking to ride their hot goaltender through another round.
