Radiohead Receives Boycott Threats After Performing In Israel
Radiohead are being threatened by a pro-Palestinian pressure group with a “grassroots measures” boycott. The threats come after Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood performed with Israeli musician Dudu Tassa in Tel Aviv. The pair played some of their collaboration album, ‘Jarak Qaribak,’ consisting of reworked Arabic love songs. Greenwood has rejected the calls to cancel his European tour, saying the pressure group’s threats are “unprogressive” and “silencing.” “Silencing Israeli artists for being born Jewish in Israel doesn’t seem like any way to reach an understanding between the two sides of this apparently endless conflict,” said Greenwood. Greenwood continued that “an artistic project that combines Arab and Jewish musicians is worthwhile.” The BDS pressure group replied, “Palestinians unequivocally condemn Jonny Greenwood’s shameful artwashing of Israel’s genocide.”
