Rage Fitness has continued its rapid growth into downtown Springfield.

The local business has opened the doors of its fourth location, formerly Royal Barbell, a popular downtown gymnasium on Jefferson Avenue currently in the process of transitioning ownership.

Rage and Royal owners recently announced the move on Instagram.

“This company has been a staple in the community of fitness, and Rage is now going to take that over,” Royal Barbell owner Paden Stringer said. “This is something cool you’re going to want to be a part of.”

Rage co-owner Sylas Shores said in the announcement that the newest location will be making changes in the coming weeks aesthetically and with its equipment. The company’s fourth location will be called RF Iron, and will feature all-steel plates giving an “old-school vibe with new-school equipment.”

“A lot of the core values Royal instilled aligns with (Rage), which is why I think the transition will go so smoothly,” Shores said.

The fourth Rage gym joins locations in Nixa and in Springfield at 2404 W. Kingsley St. and 2321 S. Campbell Ave.

Royal Barbell was open until 10 p.m. Monday-Friday and 6 p.m. on the weekends, but Rage offers 24/7 facilities. VIP Rage members have access to all four gymnasiums.

Brandon and Heather Davis are co-owners of Rage, along with Shores, according to Springfield Business Journal, which wrote in November that the gym had more than 3,000 members and was expanding.

The Royal Barbell location currently has signs posted on its windows, encouraging current Royal members to stop by the front desk to re-write current contracts to a Rage Fitness contract.
