Ralph Lauren Takes New York Fashion Week Show To The Hamptons
New York Fashion Week officially kicked off on Friday, September 6th with a ceremonial ribbon cutting by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) at Rockefeller Center, but one of New York’s biggest designers was already ahead of the Spring Summer 25 collections buzz.
Ralph Lauren staged a fashion show in the Hamptons on the evening of Thursday, September 5, with an impressive slate at celebrity guests.
Dr. Jill Biden, Usher, Kacey Musgraves, Naomi Campbell, Naomi Watts, Laura Dern, Joey King, Justin Theroux, Jude Law and many more famous faces gathered in the front row and on the runway at Khalily Stables, an equestrian complex in Bridgehampton, to see the debut of the 84-year-old designer’s latest ready to wear collection. The ritzy Long Island location was perhaps apropos, as the looks and there derivatives will be seen throughout the Hamptons next year.
Ralph Lauren also has a sizeable boutique in East Hampton Village, as well as a Polo Ralph Lauren shop in a historic house in East Hampton and another Ralph Lauren Store in Southampton.
The runway show itself was championed for being diverse in showcasing models of various ages, ethnicities and body types.
“You saw literally all different colors and shapes and sizes of people and people feeling like they belong and go together,” Colman Domingo, a front row guest, told the Associated Press.
Like many an American billionaire, Lauren himself also has an oceanfront estate Out East. The designer’s four-bedroom home in Montauk is known to be decorated with furnishings from his own line.
“The Hamptons is more than a place. It’s a natural world of endless blue skies, the ocean, green fields, and white fences, rusticity and elegance with a quality of light that drew artists here decades ago,” Lauren shared in the show notes. “It has been home, my refuge and always an inspiration.”
Classic cars from Lauren’s personal collection were parked at the show in Bridgehampton, automobiles said to inspire his new designs. Of course, live horses and equestrians were also present to set the tone.
To celebrate the new collection, Ralph Lauren’s signature Manhattan restaurant, Polo Bar, had a Hamptons pop-up on site, so guests could dig into the signature burger, sip martinis and indulge in more Americana-themed treats while discussing the clothing (or whatever the rich and famous talk about at a private party).
“The #RalphLaurenSP25 Fashion Show celebrates Ralph Lauren’s appreciation for natural beauty, family and friends, and a style that’s forever,” the brand shared on Instagram.
Already, Ralph Lauren has had a big year in front of the American public. The designer created the uniforms and team kits for Team USA the the Olympics, and has a major presence on the court and throughout the stadium at the ongoing U.S. Open Tennis Tournament in Queens.
