Record travel expected as 2024 draws to a close

Sunday is shaping up to be one of the busiest travel days of the year, with AAA predicting record travel across the nation.

Some travelers are headed back home from a Christmas trip, while others are headed out one last trip for the year.

Here in Columbus, John Glenn International Airport saw thousands of passengers taking to the skies.

Many travelers arrived at the airport bright and early to save time getting to the gate.

“There’s usually less delays and chance of delays,” a family told ABC 6. “It’s easier with two little kids to go through earlier.”

Booking data from AAA showed that flights are 4% more expensive this holiday season compared to last year.

The average domestic ticket costs $830, while international flights average over $1,600.
