Rene’s Travel Diary Part 3

HELENA,Montana (WAGM) – A 10 day trip to Montana, Wyoming and Utah was memorable for 21 Holiday Vacation/WAGM travelers. Rene Cloukey recently returned from that trip and has part three of his travel diary.

The 43 travelers from 9 different states not only took on some beautiful sights, but it was also an educational experience for the group. Day four of the trip started with a visit to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. The 25 thousand square foot building includes the permanent exhibit hall. This imparts the vision of President Thomas Jefferson expanding America to the west after the Louisiana Purchase. One of the goals was to find the most direct route across the continent. the expedition was on the Missouri River and was to find a path to the pacific ocean. The Traveling group learned about the hardships and relations with they formed with various groups along the way. The City has built a walking path along the banks of the river for hikers to enjoy.

Our group of travelers also traveled to Helena Montana where we visited the Cathedral of St Helena. The Construction on the cathedral began in 1908 and the first mass was held in 1914.

We also visited the Montana State Capital Building during our two days in Helena.

We then boarded the bus for the first of two days visiting Yellowstone. We traveled under the Roosevelt Arch and were greeted by dozens of Elk who were roaming just outside the park. During our first day we ventured into several different parts of the park and took in the beauty of waterfalls and mountains. This also set us up for our second day at the park when we visited Old Faithful and got soaked in the pouring rain as it erupted on schedule. We were also stopped in a Bison Traffic Jam. All that and more coming up tomorrow night on Part 4 of travel Diary. Rene Cloukey NewsSource 8.
