Reno-Tahoe Airport to Enhance Travel Experience with New $299 Million Ground Transportation Center – SierraDailyNews.com
The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) has announced the latest near 300 million Ground Transportation Center (GTC) project coming to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The project, part of the MoreRNO Infrastructure Program, aims to revolutionize ground transportation for millions of travelers and is set for completion in 2028.
Project officials say the GTC will address the critical needs for improved travel experiences and sustainability. The new facility will relocate rental car operations from the existing parking garage to a newly constructed center, freeing up valuable parking space and reducing airport congestion.
Daren Griffin, President/CEO of the (transportation authority) RTAA, highlighted the significance of this public-private partnership, noting its role in boosting the local economy and improving public safety. Griffin stated, “This project is not just an investment in infrastructure but an investment in the future of northern Nevada.”
The GTC, sprawling across four floors and covering over 440,000 square feet, will house nine rent-a-car brands and feature a range of facilities, including a Quick Turnaround Area with car washes, maintenance bays, and fuel positions. It will also offer covered pedestrian access from the terminal, set to enhance passengers’ convenience.
