Report: Details On Bryan Danielson Winning AEW World Title At AEW All In
A new report provides more details on Bryan Danielson winning the AEW World Championship in the main event of AEW All In.
At AEW All In, Bryan Danielson defeated Swerve Strickland to win the AEW World Championship. This marked the first time that Danielson won the title. Per the stipulation, Danielson would have been forced to retire if he had lost. Danielson had previously noted that he was somewhat against winning the world title.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that Bryan Danielson had “often and actively” pushed against winning titles in AEW. That being said, he gave in. AEW founder Tony Khan was said to be adamant on Danislon winning the world title eventually. Sapp writes that Khan wanted Danielson to win the title in the main event of AEW All In.
The report cites sources who noted that the decision for Danielson to main-event All In against Strickland was made at least by April. It was also noted that Will Ospreay was not a planned opponent for Swerve Strickland. One source pointed out that Ospreay would have chances to headline the show for years to come.
Sapp also writes that there were jokes of a “reverse Montreal screwjob” to make sure that Danielson actually won the match. As previously reported, Danielson has been working banged up in recent months.
