Resilient snow to impact travel for some through Friday
NWS alerts in effect HERE.
Lake effect snow continues to fall with moderate to heavy intensity over the eastern half of Upper Michigan Thursday night, with another band to surge towards the Keweenaw Peninsula — driven by a cold southwest wind over Lake Superior. Then, another round of wintry flakes enters the region by way of a fast-moving clipper system Friday. Lighter, fewer snow showers are expected in the southwestern areas of the U.P., whereas moderate snow bursts can impact travel north and east — poor visibility is possible along with slippery hazards.
This weekend through Monday, a mix of rain and snow chances make for slippery, messy travel conditions yet again as temperatures trend above seasonal (and above freezing during the daytime period). A cold, wintry return comes Tuesday with lake effect snow chances in the forecast.
