Restaurant with entertainment venue in Harrisburg changing ownership
A Harrisburg city restaurant with a second-floor music venue is changing ownership.
Federal Taphouse and Fed Live will close on Jan. 19 after operating at 234 N. Second St.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude for your loyal patronage throughout the last 12 years. It has been a privilege to serve the community and be part of all the lasting memories,” said owner Judd Goodman.
He noted a local entertainment group will take over the establishment with plans to bring in live music. The group has not been identified.
“While this was a bittersweet decision, I am excited that the community will be offered an innovative concept run by seasoned operators in the entertainment industry,” Goodman said.
As business winds down, he said all draft beer will permanently sell for $5 regardless of style, rarity or ABV until closing. Goodman encouraged patrons to stop by and visit their favorite bartenders and servers in the coming weeks.
Federal Taphouse restaurant offers about 60 beers on tap and serves casual pub fare. Fed Live operated on the second floor hosted live music in the past. Recently, Goodman said the space was used for private and corporate events.
“Thirteen years ago, this building was a hub for national touring bands too long to list. I am confident that the new concept will bring Second Street back to being a destination for live entertainment,” he said.
Federal Taphouse used to operate locations in Lancaster and Hampden Township. Today, Goodman operates one at the Hyatt Hotel in State College.
