Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Held for New Fitness Court® at Oak Ridge Community Park

On Monday, August 19, Lafourche Parish hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new outdoor Fitness Court® at Oak Ridge Community Park, located at 705 N Alex Plaisance Blvd, Golden Meadow, LA 70357.

This project is part of a broader effort to improve and enhance the quality of life for Lafourche Parish residents. The Fitness Court® is a key element of the 202X initiative launched by National Fitness Campaign (NFC), a nationwide wellness consulting firm that partners with municipalities and schools to plan, build, and fund Healthy Communities. NFC’s award-winning initiative is now planning its 500th Healthy Community in America, aiming to deliver vital outdoor wellness programs to combat the obesity epidemic across the country.

The total cost of the project exceeded $180,000, with funding and sponsorships provided by Lafourche Parish Government, National Fitness Campaign, Lady of the Sea General Hospital, the Callais Family, and Melaco Sister.

The new Fitness Court® at Oak Ridge Community Park is designed as the world’s best outdoor gym, allowing users to leverage their own body weight across seven stations for a complete workout. It is created for adults aged 14 and older and is adaptable to all fitness levels. Users can also enhance their experience by downloading the free Fitness Court App, which provides a coach-in-your-pocket style platform, transforming the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience.
